2009-Current

I lead an extraordinary team of four English faculty to organize and execute our popular two-day Writers Conference each year.  My responsibilities include fund raising, locating and negotiating contracts with the keynote speaker, literary agent presenters, and workshop leaders, and overseeing registration, publicity, set-up, food services, break-down, and general trouble-shooting.  I oversee a budget of $40,000.

2007-2008

I served on a committee that reviewed applications for two Developmental English slots.

Member: Freshmen Committee
2007-Current

As a member of the Freshmen Committee, my chief accomplishments include creating the rubrics for English 101 and 102 that are the foundation for our assessment pilot, as well as co-authoring the 335 forms for the revised English 101 and 102 courses.

Member: Textbook Committee
2007-2009

I helped select the textbooks to be used by adjunct professors in English 010, 011, 101, and 102 until the Committee was disbanded and folded into the Freshmen Committee.

Member: Associate of Arts English Exploratory Committee
2008-Current

As a member of the AA Exploratory Committee, I have helped shape the working draft of course sequence for current draft of our forthcoming Liberal Arts concentration.  I also have crafted the learning outcomes for the new Introduction to Literature course we are developing as part of this process.

Member: Developmental English Committee
2010-Current

I joined the Developmental English Committee to help further the good work the Developmental faculty members have already done towards revising English 010 and 011.

 

CAMPUS-WIDE LEADERSHIP ROLES

Arts and Humanities Representative to Campus-Wide Curriculum Committee (2008-Current)

My division elected me to represent it on the Curriculum Committee in 2008 and let me return for a second term in 2010.  My biggest accomplishment thus far was conceiving of and drafting the revision to the Information Literacy Core requirement that absolved all courses from satisfying Information Literacy Core status.

I was invited to join the search committee to find a replacement for Dr. John Flynn.

Lively Arts Committee
2009-Current

As the Chair of the MCCC Annual Writers Conference, I sit on the Lively Arts Committee to help coordinate crossover between events.  In 2010, we arranged to have an artist-poet display her work and give a presentation on poetry writing at the Conference because of our work on the Committee.

Bucknell Community College Scholars Selection Committee
2010

I was invited to participate in a series of meetings to screen applicants for submissions to the Bucknell Community College Scholars Program.

Member: Learning Assistance Laboratory Strategic Planning Advisory Committee (Spring 2008)

This committee met multiple times to offer faculty suggestions on the strategic plan for the Learning Assistance Laboratory.  I authored the final report on faculty recommendations.

Member: Faculty First Fridays Committee (Fall 2010 – Spring 2011)

To support the 2011 President's Symposium featuring National Book Award Winner Charles Johnson, I was asked to help organize the First Fridays Faculty Book Discussion Series.

Marshal: 2010 Graduation

I served as one of four marshals leading the student procession at graduation.

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Member: Executive Board, Literacy Council of Norristown
2008

I was invited to join the board of the LCN and worked on a number of initiatives  I chose to resign from the board because I am not suited to the primary function of an executive board member: fundraising.

Leader: Norristown Public Library Reading Group.
2010-Current

Each month I lead a monthly discussion group at the Norristown Public Library on a common reading selected by the group.  Group attendance has increased from 15 to 25 since I started.

Founder and Leader: Comics Discussion Group, Comics and More, Plymouth Meeting
2010-Current

As a hardcore comic book collector and reader, I approached my comic store about hosting a monthly discussion on major graphic novels.  The group has grown from four participants to eleven, with more coming each month.
